It is suppossed to be a 1400 watt...but it is a slow 850 watt... If you want a slow toaster...by it .. Made in China... Imported by a Mexican importer and marketed on a US name and finaly sold by Amazon US... BUT it work... for how much time.. That's another story. ahahah

This toaster is HORRIBLE. No matter what number/darkness you set it to, it will burn your toast to a crisp. EVERY SINGLE TIME. I don't even know if it will turn off, because I have never let it get that far! I bought it from Bed Bath and Beyond, and if I had not thrown out the box I would have returned it. The toaster is so useless I will probably just throw it in the trash now that I have a toaster oven.

I should have paid heed to previous reviews instead of paying for this toaster.
Surprisingly, mine worked 18 months until it broke. Actually this toaster really worked well and I liked the look of it.
All of a sudden the tray does no longer stay down. Holding it down does heat the wire, but only on one side. I have never touched the wires, tray or grates with any tools. Maybe this is some kind of electronic defect with impact on the electromagnet, which normally holds the tray down. Maybe a toaster should have less electronics. I will look for a simpler model. Repair does not seem economically feasible.
